The publication noted that the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán declares that it complies with sanctions against the Russian Federation, but continues to develop ties in areas not affected by the restrictions.

“All of Europe does business with Russia, although some of them try to deny it. The difference is that we don’t see the need to hide it,” Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijártó emphasized at a briefing with Russian Health Minister Mykhailo Murashko.

In particular, he advertised a business forum in which, according to him, almost 80 Russian and Hungarian companies participate. The largest Hungarian firms registered on the stock exchange continue to work in the Russian Federation, namely the creditor OTP Nyrt, the oil refining company Mol Nyrt and the pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter Nyrt.

“Hungary is ready to provide you with all the necessary support for doing business with Russia,” Szijjártó added at the briefing.

The diplomat also promised “a solution that will facilitate the delivery of your goods to Russia”, so this will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Orbán began his EU presidency by sparking a global diplomatic scandal when he traveled to Moscow in July to meet President Vladimir Putin on a self-proclaimed ‘mission of peace’. Szijjártó regularly visits Russia and Belarus, developing ties with energy companies.” “Rosatom” and “Gazprom”, for which Hungary is one of the key clients in the region,” Bloomberg recalled.

Hungary and the EU – the latest newsEarlier it became known that Hungary will no longer influence the expansion of the European Union. The country has already reacted to this and stated that the countries of the Western Balkans have been waiting for EU membership for more than 14 years, “and behind closed doors, many EU leaders oppose enlargement, despite public support.”

“Von der Leyen’s decision clearly shows that she is part of this hypocrisy, ensuring that the enlargement portfolio does not go to Hungary, which is in favor of enlargement,” Hungarian government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs emphasized, referring to Szijjártó’s words.

It was also reported at the end of August that the Prime Minister of Hungary went on a visit to Russia, where he once again criticized Europe.

“It’s not about ideology, it’s about physics and mathematics. Today, Europe needs courage to say this, but Hungary is satisfied with Russian energy cooperation, which is one of the guarantees of the country’s food security,” he said.
