Laverne Cox stars as Desiree, a trans woman who returns to her Alabama hometown for a quick visit — until her stay becomes unexpectedly permanent. She moves back in with her father, Harry (George Wallace), “an old-school and outspoken Alabama car wash owner, who has a lot of soul searching to do when the estranged child he thought was a son returns home to Mobile as a proud, trans woman,” per the series logline.
The new comedy series begins streaming on Thursday, Feb. 6, exclusively on Prime Video.

Clean Slate also stars Jay Wilkison as Mack, an employee at Harry’s car wash; D.K. Uzoukwu as Louis, Desiree’s childhood best friend; Telma Hopkins as Louis’ mother, Ella; Norah Murphy as Mack’s young daughter, Opal; and Philip Garcia as Harry’s frenemy, Miguel.
The show was executive produced by Lear (passed away in 2023 at the age of 101) and produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, the series.

How to Watch Clean Slate Online A Prime original series, Clean Slate streams only on Prime Video beginning Thursday, Feb. 6. The first season spans eight episodes that all drop simultaneously on Amazon’s streaming service.
Eligible subscribers can stream Clean Slate for free with a 30-day trial to Prime or Prime Video. Amazon’s standalone streaming service is $8.99 per month and Prime membership is $14.99 monthly or $139 annually. Amazon also offers a discounted rate for subscribers between the ages of 18 to 24 with its Prime for Young Adults program which is free for six months and then only $7.49 per month or $69 per year afterwards.
