The team of Mexico researchers explored how classical music affects the heart rhythm of the fetus.

“Parents who turn on soothing music can stimulate the vegetative system of the fetus … Our results indicate that these changes in the dynamics of the heart rhythm of the fetus occur instantly during short -term fluctuations,” said Eric Alonso Abarka Castro from the team of scientists from Mexico.

Scientists investigated the variability of cardiac rhythm (VRV), measuring the tiny variations of time between each heartbeat. This indicator of HRV, they say, is especially valuable because it gives an idea of the development of the vegetative nervous system of the fetus.

The higher degree of variability of the heart rhythm of the fetus is usually considered a positive sign that indicates the healthy maturation of this important system.

The study was attended by 36 pregnant women. Researchers have turned on them two classical music and works: “Swan” by the French composer Camil Saint-Sans and “Arpa de oro” by Mexican composer Abundio Martinez.

Using external heart rate monitors, researchers have measured how the heart rate reacts to soothing music. This analysis allowed the researchers to see minor changes in the heart rate of the fetus, which can indicate how music affects the development of the baby’s nervous system.

“In general, we have found that the influence of music leads to more stable and predictable models of the heart rhythm of the fetus. We assume that this instantaneous effect can stimulate the development of the vegetative nervous system of the fetus,” – said researcher Claudia Lerma.

Researchers suggest that their conclusions should be very important for expectant parents:

“Reproduction of soothing music, especially classic, can be a simple but powerful way to promote healthy fetal development.”

Earlier, UNIAN told whether the human body could be fully updated every 7 years. This widespread opinion was inaccurate from a scientific point of view. Researchers have explained that in fact this process is much more complicated.

Scientists say that if all the cells of the body had the same structure and performed the same functions, one could talk about their synchronous renewal. However, there are many different types of cells in the human body, each updated by its individual cycle.
