The Cabinet of Ministers approved the strategy for the development of agriculture and rural areas in Ukraine for the period up to 2030.

“This is a historical document, which is not only our beacon, but also mandatory for a candidate country to join the European Union. It is a roadmap for how we will develop our agriculture. After all, the goal of the Strategy is to prepare the agricultural sector for Ukraine’s entry into the EU.” – said Koval.
The Cabinet of Ministers also approved the operational plan of measures for its implementation in 2025-2027.
According to the minister, the document provides for the sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas.
The development strategy will also contribute to the formation of a competitive, sustainable and diversified agricultural sector that ensures long-term food security, strengthens the protection of the natural environment, including biodiversity, mitigating the consequences of climate change and strengthening the socio-economic structure of rural areas.

Implementation of the measures of the Development Strategy until 2030 will contribute to the return to cultivation of 17.4% of agricultural land, unavailable as of June 2024; increasing the share of processed agricultural raw materials to 38.8% from the current 20.1% and to 50% – its share in exports in monetary terms. It is expected that by 2030, 95% of the total number of profitable enterprises will become profitable in crop production, and up to 85% in livestock production.
