Colonel Valentin Manko, who in 2024 received the title of Hero of Ukraine, was appointed Head of the Armed Forces Department of the Armed Forces.
Before that, he commanded the 33rd separate assault regiment.
Syrsky called Manka’s career growth – from the regiment commander to the head of management – an example for military and volunteers who seek development in the army. He emphasized the effectiveness of the assault troops and unmanned systems, which are governed by commanders who often started with civilian or grassroots.
The 33rd assault regiment under the direction of Manka was created in 2023. The unit participated in battles in Kharkiv, Kursk and Pokrovsky directions. The colonel himself was injured during combat missions.
Manko began his service in 2014, when he organized a volunteer unit within the Right Sector State University and became his deputy commander. Then he, together with the fighters, participated in the key battles of the ATO in eastern Ukraine.
In 2024, for exceptional courage and heroism in the protection of the sovereignty of the state, Valentina Manka was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Golden Star.
Colonel Oleksandr Rashevsky was appointed new commander of the united assault brigade of the National Police “Lyuta”.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed the new chairman of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory of the Historian, TV presenter and military Alexander Alfarov.
