In early June, Donald Trump initiated the deployment of the National Guard troops in Los Angeles. This was the first case for several decades, when the President sent the National Guard to the US city without official request from state or local authorities. Then Trump stated that such a step was necessary to “suppress riots”, which, he said, could “destroy the city.”
However, this decision was caused by the condemnation of the governor of Gavin Newsoma and Mayor Los Angeles Karen Bass, who accused the President of the fact that he further exacerbated the tension.
News also initiated a lawsuit against the Trump administration demanding that the troops deploy without agreeing with the state power. He stated that the remaining troops “continue to be left without mission, without leadership and without hope to return to help their communities.”
