“The adversary from the territory of the Russian Federation launched artillery fire on areas of populated areas, in particular, Serhiivske and Liskivshchyna of Chernihiv region; Bezsalivka, Rogizne, Volfyne, Kucherivka, Seredyna Buda, Budky, Shalygine, Iskryskivshchyna, Khodyno, Novasylivka of the Sumy region,” the summary stated as of 4:00 p.m.
Almost half of the battles were recorded in the Pokrovsky direction in the Donetsk region.
“In the Pokrovsky direction, since the beginning of the day, the Russian occupiers have made 23 attempts to dislodge our soldiers from their occupied positions in the areas of the settlements of Shakhove, Novy Donbas, Pokrovsk, Svitle, Kotlyna, Udachne, Molodetske, Novopavlivka, and in the direction of Ivanivka, Hannivka, and Rodinsky. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and have already repelled 18 attacks,” the message reads.
Fighting also continued in the South-Slobozhansk, Kupyansk, Lymansk, Slovyansk, Kostyantynovsky, Oleksandrivsk, Gulyaipilsk, Orihiv and Prydniprovsk directions.

On January 22, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that the Defense Forces continue to restrain Russian troops in Pokrovsk and Myrnograd in Donetsk region, as small groups of the Russian Federation are trying to infiltrate the northern regions of both cities. He noted that as a result of the active assault actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, another attempt by the Russian invaders to seize these settlements was thwarted.
Fighting in Pokrovsk has been going on since October 2025, when the Russian army managed to break through to the city after several months of fighting on its slopes. Almost immediately, Russian soldiers began to be recorded in Pokrovsk’s satellite city of Mirnograd.
