According to the deputy head of the GUR, Vadym Skibitsky, by 2025, Russia aims to produce a total of 120,000 glider bombs and 70,000 long-range drones, including 30,000 Shahed-type UAVs.

Details: Skibytsky noted that among the glider bombs manufactured by Russia there will be 500 new bombs with a longer flight range that can reach more Ukrainian cities.

The deputy head of the GUR stated that the Russian troops release from 200 to 250 glider bombs every day. In October, the daily average was about 170, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Direct speech Skibitsky: “They can be shot down, but the number of these aerial bombs produced in the Russian Federation is huge. This is a threat. A threat that will require an appropriate response from us.”

Details: Reuters clarifies that the bombs, previously estimated to have a range of up to 90 km, can breach Ukrainian defenses without sending planes over the front line where they could be shot down.

They are much cheaper and more accessible than rockets, and their several hundred kilograms of explosives can penetrate buildings and fortifications. They shelled front-line cities such as Kharkiv and Kherson.

Russia is starting mass production of a new glider bomb capable of flying up to 200 km from the point of being dropped from a fighter jet, Skibytskyi said, adding that by the end of this year, it is planned to produce about 500 such bombs.

Ukraine also believes that Russia is working on modifications so that such bombs can fly at a distance of up to 400 km, which will allow Moscow to attack even more Ukrainian cities without the use of missiles, he added.

The publication emphasizes that the October attacks by glider bombs on the Mykolaiv, Poltava, and Odesa regions, which are located at least dozens of kilometers from the nearest front lines, have already demonstrated an increase in the range of these weapons.

Skibytskyi also provided an assessment of the production of Russian drones, which, according to him, made it possible to more effectively attack Ukraine’s energy system.

By 2025, he said, Russia will produce a total of about 70,000 long-range drones, including 30,000 Shahed drones, which are the mainstay of Russian attacks.

Direct speech Skibitsky: “They started with 30 drones per month, and now 30 can fly to one target.”

“They definitely want to break us. It destabilizes the internal situation.”

Details: Skibytsky described it as one of the tools to pressure Ukraine to take a more accommodating position in any possible peace talks.

He also said that if Russian troops capture the city of Pokrovsk, where street fighting is currently taking place, they will likely advance to the borders of Donetsk Oblast, their long-standing goal.

Direct speech Skibitskyi: “This is their next direction of movement, it’s obvious.”

What preceded: In September, Skibitskyi said that Russia has changed the tactics of striking Ukraine, and is also using modernized weapons.
