Grant Fisher set a new world record for 5000 meters

American Grant Fisher continues to surprise new records. This time he set a world record at a distance of 5000 meters.

At the David Hemery Valentine Invitational race, the athlete updated the world record in Boston, showing time 12:44:06. The previous record at this distance in the room belongs to the legendary Kenenis Becle (12: 49.60).

In the course of the distance, Fisher overcame the first kilometer for 2.31.45, escaping the leaders with Frenchman Jimmy Gressier. At the beginning of the third kilometer, the American began to increase his separation from the Frenchman, and on the 4th between them the difference set for 8 seconds.

As a result, gold won Grant Fisher – 12:44:06, second place in Jimmy Gressier – 12:54:92, and Bronze won Yasin Abdall (Sudan) – 13:09:99.
