Satellite images of Ukraine’s defense infrastructure on updated Google maps were taken more than a year ago. The data came from publicly available sources.
This was reported by the Google press service.
“These satellite images were taken more than a year ago and come from publicly available sources – we deliberately do not publish the latest images of war zones. We take such requests very seriously and are in constant contact with Ukrainian officials,” Google said.
Earlier, Google, according to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, updated its satellite images, accidentally displaying Ukrainian military positions and the placement of military systems.
“We are contacting them to fix it quickly, but they have the weekend. Not for that. The Russians are already actively dispersing these pictures,” Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC, said.
After that, Google representatives said that they are already working on correcting the situation with pictures of the placement of military systems in Ukraine.
