Google learns from Openai errors and makes gemini more personalized

Google has started a step -by -step introduction of automatic memory in Gemini. After activating the Chatbot setup, you will be able to remember the key details and user preferences without additional commands, using them to personalize the answers. This is the expansion of last year’s option, which demanded manually to indicate what to remember.

The feature will be enabled by default, but it can be disabled in the Personal Context section of Gemini settings by disconnecting your Past Chats with Gemini. Initially, the updates will receive users of the Gemini 2.5 Pro in the selected countries, later – Gemini 2.5 Flash.

It happened against the backdrop of a wave of criticism of the new Openai GPT-5 model, which was accused of “Cold”. Some of the users even confessed that he felt the loss of a friend. In response to such moods, Google emphasizes that Gemini will retain an individual approach and will be able to remember the context of conversation without additional reminders. By the way, the memory feature has recently appeared in the Claude Chatbota Anthopic.

For other innovations, Google is still changing privacy settings: Apps Activity will get a new name – Keep Activity. If you activate it, the company will be able to use selective files and photos loaded in Gemini to improve services. By default, this option is off.

The Tempory Chats mode will also be added – temporary chats that will not be stored in history will not be used for personalization and will be removed in 72 hours. They are intended for private or one -time requests to avoid their impact on future answers.
