The film has already become a sensation of this year’s SXSW Independent Cinema Festival and received quite high ratings from the first critics and viewers.
UNIAN, together with Adastra Cinema, a Ukrainian film distributor, tells you that you need to know about one of the best mountains of the year.

What a movie aboutHave you wondered why your dog suddenly begins to bark crazy? Or why is he still looking at the seemingly arbitrary point? Or why is he frightened runs from the other end of the house right up to you? Director Ben Leonberg, probably, just reflecting on these questions when he created his full -length debut movie – a spooky mountain where the dog is the main character, and all the events are shown from his perspective.
So, in the center of the plot is a faithful Retriever Indie, who moves to a new house with his owner Todd (Shane Jensen). However, the new house is full of not only old furniture, but also terrible other forces. Todd does not notice them, but instead, Indie immediately feels danger and tries to save anything from his owner.

“I worked with my own dog on the set, and I think that because of this, the play of the dog in the movie is not so much like other acting dog work dogs,” the director says, adding that “When your main actor is a dog, traditional film production rules fly out the window.”

“Indy did not even suspect that he was shooting. He did not understand the labels or the teams, and most of the shooting spent, however, his presence on the screen is so magnetic that I put the whole movie on his unsuspecting little shoulders,” Ben Leonberg says.

Critics: “This is one of the best mountains of the year”The World Premiere of “Good Boy” took place in March 2025 at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Independent Cinema Festival in Texas.
Currently, an IMDB movie rating is 6.5 out of 10 points, while on Rotten Tomatoes, it received 92% of critics approval. At the same time, at Metacritic, cinema experts rated it at 71 out of 100 points, which corresponds to the characteristics of “In general positive reviews”.
