In the occupied region of Luhansk region, in particular, in the Rovenkiv community, there is an imitation of gold mining, which actually hides the collapse of the coal industry and the arrears of wages to miners.

Oleksiy Kharchenko, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported that the Russian occupiers have issued new licenses for exploration and mining, including gold, while local miners have not been paid for six months.

The measures initiated by the occupiers to “restore” mining, in particular in the Bobrykivskoye deposit, where reserves of gold ores were exhausted as early as the 19th century, have repeatedly resulted in losses.

The center of another “scam of the century” became the Rovenkiv community. Here, at the Bobrykiv deposit, the invaders are going to “restore” mining of the precious metal. However, the main reserves of gold there were exhausted in the 19th century.

By the way, this is not the first attempt to imitate an industrial breakthrough. Yes, a year and a half ago, similar auctions and attempts at “investment” ended in losses. Now the occupiers have again issued four licenses, promising “mountains of gold” to divert attention from the complete collapse of the coal industry.

Against the background of fairy tales about gold mines, the real sector of the ORLO economy is in a coma. Even at the “Bilorichenska” mine, which has always been considered profitable and successful, the situation is critical:

  • Payment delays: Miners were last paid in the summer of 2025.

  • Empty promises: The new “masters” from the Russian Federation, instead of the promised modernization, are simply pumping out resources without paying for labor.

  • Lack of prospects: Despite the presence of profit from the sale of coal, the money does not reach the workers.

Under such conditions, the real economic sector in ORLO is on the verge of collapse, and the Bilorichenska mine has to face increasingly acute problems, including delayed payments and lack of investment.

The situation is also worsened by infrastructural problems, for example, there is a water shortage in the region, and the occupation authorities are beginning to prepare the population to use mine water as an alternative.
