Girona sporting director Quique Carcel is taking the team’s poor first part of the season in stride: three defeats in the Champions League and 10th place in La Liga. 
In addition, the newcomers have not yet been able to adequately replace the performance of Artem Dovbyk, who moved to Roma.
“We are learning. It is clear that the team will be a victim of last season’s success. A year ago we already had 34 points and 31 goals, and now we have 18 points and 16 goals. The club tried to create a competitive squad, but there are many matches and many injured.”
“In the summer, forwards Miovski and Ruiz were signed, trying to replace Dovbyk, and this is a difficult task. They are still getting to know the style of play and the requirements of the coach,” Karsel said.
Recently, Artem Dovbyk was presented with a trophy for being the best scorer in La Liga last season.
