“German Vice-Chancellor was unable to fly from Lisbon due to the breakdown of the new government planeRobert Habek was unable to return from Portugal due to an engine failure on the Airbus 350-900 government plane. This is not the first case of technical problems with German government planes.”, — write on: unn.ua
Details
Habek was supposed to return to Berlin from the capital of Portugal, where he participated in the Web Summit conference, on the evening of November 12. However, the flight did not take place due to a technical malfunction of one of the engines of the Airbus 350-900 government airliner, the publication writes.
It is a new aircraft that joined the government’s fleet in June 2024 as part of a major modernization program.
Addition
This is not the first NP with Bundeswehr airliners on which German politicians fly. In August 2023, the plane of German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock crashed in Abu Dhabi. In May of the same year, she was unable to take off from Berlin on time for a trip to the Persian Gulf countries – also due to a technical malfunction. And the replacement plane still had a wheel burst on one of the landing gear during landing.
The planes of other German politicians have repeatedly crashed: Berbock’s predecessor as Foreign Minister Heiko Mas, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Olaf Scholz during his tenure as German Finance Minister, and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
