So far, Berlin has refrained from confiscating Rosneft’s local assets due to fears that it will have to pay compensation to Russia. Rosneft has been trying to sell this business since March 2024, but to no avail. Michael Kellner, a member of the Green Party in the German parliament, called on the government to nationalize this business. “This is systemically important for Germany.
