Details: In total, German parliamentarians approved spending for the government of Chancellor Friedrich Mertz in the amount of 524.5 billion euros – 21.5 billion more than in 2025.

In order to finance expenses in the main budget alone, it is planned to borrow almost EUR 98 billion. Loans from special funds for the Bundeswehr and infrastructure are added to this.
More than a third of the budget is spent on labor and the social sphere. At the same time, defense spending is rising to about 108 billion euros, the highest level since the end of the Cold War.
Ukraine will receive from the approved budget 11.5 billion euros for artillery, drones, armored vehicles and other equipment. According to the German Ministry of Defense, this is the highest amount since the full-scale Russian invasion.
In September, the Bundestag approved the budget for 2025the decision on which was postponed due to early parliamentary elections.
