Details: According to the general, training of the Ukrainian military is at the center of discussions between Ukraine and Germany. “We are working on ideas for training, especially at the level of battalion and brigade headquarters, to make them more effective,” said Freuding.
The main problem remains the duration of training. The German side offers six-week courses, but the Ukrainian command, due to urgent combat needs, is often limited to two to four weeks.
Commenting on the possibility of Ukrainian military training on the territory of Ukraine, the German general noted that he did not see any practical advantages in this.
Direct speech: “It’s more risky because the Russians will try to hit any training facilities in Ukraine where NATO troops will be stationed. It would require a lot more organizational effort from us.
We have excellent educational institutions in Germany and in all other NATO countries in Europe with much better learning conditions. Therefore, I believe that a much better solution is to conduct training in Germany, in Europe, because we can be much more efficient and invest in instructors, increasing the level of training, because we do not have to worry about security.”
