According to him, also by the end of 2028, Tbilisi refuses any budget grants from the EU.

“It is absolutely unacceptable to consider integration into the European Union as a handout that the European Union should give us. We see that European politicians and bureaucrats are using allocated grants and loans as blackmail against Georgia,” the politician said.

He emphasized that the end of 2028 is the time when Georgia will be ready, primarily economically, to start negotiations on joining the European Union by 2030.

“Following Kobakhidze’s statement, the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, is holding emergency consultations with the diplomatic corps, and spontaneous rallies in Tbilisi have been announced on social media,” the publication writes.

In particular, the document called on Tbilisi to carry out democratic, comprehensive and sustainable reforms in accordance with the main principles of European integration.

Earlier, UNIAN reported that it was previously reported that Georgia will not be able to become a member of the EU if a one-party system is established there without political opposition.
