It is known that in the North-Slobozhansk and Kursk directions, since the beginning of the war, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have repelled three assaults by the forces of the Russian Federation, and two more skirmishes are ongoing. In addition, the Russian army carried out 10 airstrikes, dropping 28 guided air bombs, and also carried out 132 attacks on the positions of the Armed Forces and populated areas, of which five were from rocket salvo systems.
“In the Kupyansk direction, the aggressor carried out offensive actions in the area of Stepova Novoselyvka, Kupyansk, Petropavlivka and towards Pishchany. Six out of eight attacks were repulsed by Ukrainian soldiers, two more clashes are ongoing,” the Ukrainian command said in a statement.
At the same time, the Armed Forces repulsed six Russian assaults in the Slavyansk direction – the Russian Federation tried to advance in the areas of the settlements of Yampil, Dronivka and Viimka. One combat encounter is ongoing.
“In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy twice unsuccessfully tried to break through the defenses of our defenders in the area of the settlement of Orihovo-Vasylivka. In the Kostiantynivsk direction, the Russians attacked the positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Pleshchiivka and Rusyny Yar nine times, Ukrainian defenders repelled all enemy attacks,” the General Staff reported.
It is also known that in the Pokrovsky direction, since the beginning of the day, the forces of the Russian Federation tried to advance on the positions of the Armed Forces 39 times.
“The enemy tried to advance in the areas of the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Rodynske, Myrolyubivka, Novoeconomichne, Chervyn Liman, Rodynske, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Kotlyna, Udachne, Molodetske and Kotlyarivka. In five locations, the fighting has not abated until now,” says the new report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, the General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces liberated 182.8 square kilometers on the territory of the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region, and another 230.1 square kilometers were cleared.
Intelligence reiterated that Pokrovsk likely remains a priority for Russia, with the largest share of Russian attacks there compared to the rest of the front line.
On October 16, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that Ukrainian defenders had liberated 182.8 square kilometers of the territory of the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region.
