About 1.5 billion dollars were spent on the construction of power units No. 3 and No. 4 of the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power station. This was stated by the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada. “Somewhere close to 1 billion dollars have been lost today, on the structure itself, somewhere up to 1 billion dollars. Plus, what is important, on the site itself there is equipment that was already purchased earlier for the installation of these blocks. The cost is somewhere around 1.5 billion,” he commented Galushchenko. In particular, Galushchenko emphasized that construction structures and equipment were purchased earlier. We will remind: On January 16, the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Energy and Housing supported the amendments to draft law No. 11392 regarding the authorization of NAEK Energoatom JSC to purchase reactors for the construction of power units No. 3 and No. 4 at the Khmelnytskyi NPP in Bulgaria. The sum is approximately EUR 600 million. .Advertisement: Power units No. 3 and No. 4 at the Khmelnytskyi NPP must be completed, but for safety reasons, it should be done after the end of the war. It is planned to attract credit funds, as well as own funds of NAEC “Energoatom”. The decision on the construction of new nuclear power plants capacities in Ukraine should be decided exclusively by its authorities, the European Union has not expressed any official position on this issue.
