Blackouts in Ukraine depend on four factors
In connection with Russia’s intensive attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, they are increasingly used power outage. In Ukraine, either emergency, or unforeseen, or pre-planned power outages are introduced. However, stabilization schedules do not always work as advertised.
The Ministry of Energy decided to explain to the population what are the official root causes of the lack of electricity in the homes of Ukrainians, what causes them, and why the time frames are sometimes not met.
What are the reasons for the lack of light in Ukraine In general, there are four official reasons why a power outage occurs. The following important motives are meant:
- Russian shelling,
- incidents in electrical networks,
- planned preventive measures in power grids,
- weather disasters such as hurricanes, lightning, storms, floods.
The Ministry of Energy makes it clear that due to these factors, as a rule, energy objects are damaged, for the restoration of which a specific period of time and appropriate equipment are required. In connection with this, the power supply is stopped so that the electricians have the opportunity to fix everything.
What kind of blackouts occur in Ukraine According to the nature of power outages, they are divided into three types: unforeseen, stabilization and premature.
emergency (emergency or localized) power outages occur in cases where power grid failures occur, including as a result of Russian attacks. In this case, they resort to schedules of emergency power outages, these are the so-called GAVs, or capacity limiting schedules, these are the so-called GOPs.
Stabilizing power outage. These are essentially schedules of hourly power outages when the power system needs to be stabilized, especially during peak hours. These are the so-called HPVs.
It should be noted that GAV, GOP, and GPV have queues for subscribers.
Planned power outage. This is an interruption of the power supply for pre-planned repair work. Customers usually receive notice of such power outages in advance.
Why do not work schedules of stabilization of light outages Stabilization interruptions of power supply assume that electricity is returned to subscribers gradually. The procedure requires some time to connect all the apartments that remain without electricity. However, if the electrical system is unbalanced at any moment of this process, then a longer connection period is required. In this regard, the schedule may deviate and not correspond to the officially published one.
Blackout in Ukraine We will remind, on the evening of October 14, emergency power outages also took place in some regions of Ukraine. In Ukraine, there is still a need for economical energy consumption. “Ukrenergo” urges not to use several powerful electrical appliances at the same time.
Also, on Wednesday, October 15, in the morning in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Kirovohrad and Cherkasy regions, schedules of emergency interruption of the supply of electricity (GAV) were implemented due to the load on the power grid. This was informed by the local regional energy company. Energy experts appealed to carefully use electricity and monitor official data.
