France Parliament supported Ukraine and urged arresting Russian assets

The French National Assembly approved a resolution calling for assistance to Ukraine and confiscation of frozen Russian assets for Kyiv’s financial support.

Another 54 deputies voted against – these were representatives of the Ultral France and the Communists. The far -right “National Association” abstained.

The resolution has, in fact, symbolic, but the deputies hope that it will allow them to influence the government line, which is now opposed to the arrest of growths.

The resolution calls on the EU, NATO and “Other Allies, to continue and increase its political, economic and military support for Ukraine.”

The French deputies also made an amendment to the EU “build an independent European defense.”

The text of the resolution also “calls on the European Union and its Member States without delay to start the arrest of frozen Russian assets … To finance Ukraine’s military support in its resistance and restoration.”

Other points that summoned the discussions were the imports of Russian gas imports by the EU countries, which the resolution calls on “to stop”, as well as the presence of French soldiers on Ukrainian land in the case of a peace agreement.

The final text with amendments “encourages the French government and its European partners to study the possibility of deploying European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine.”
