Details
As BBC Sport writes, Formula 1 has announced an agreement with General Motors to enter the Cadillac team in the series from the 2026 season. Cadillac will become the 11th participant of the championship.
Given the continued growth of Formula 1 in the USA, we have always believed that the adoption of such an impressive American brand as GM/Cadillac into the racing grid and the emergence of GM as a future powertrain supplier could bring additional value and interest to the sport
For getting on the starting grid, General Motors will pay the bosses of Formula 1 US$ 450 million. This amount will be split between the 10 existing teams as compensation for the loss of prize money as a result of F1’s revenue now being divided into 11 parts instead of 10.
Teams in general receive about 63% of Formula 1 revenue.
From 2026, F-1 will have new technical regulations and new engines. From 2028, the team will use an engine developed by General Motors.
There is no information yet on who will supply the engines for 2026 and 2027.
