She agreed with the words of the former Bethesda marketing head.

As she shared on LinkedIn, the service really helped individual games like Human: Fall Flat, which could be lost without such a platform, but in most cases the projects are consumed by falling retail revenue. She also stressed that subscription often creates “strange internal friction” for studios.
The former Bethesda marketing vice-director of Pete Heins agrees with this. In an interview with DBLTAP, he called the service “an ecosystem that does not reward the authors properly,” adding that the model itself is not beneficial if the developers do not create the conditions for regular release of content.
Former PlayStation Studios President Sean Leiden also joined the discussion. In his opinion, the main question is not the profitability of Game Pass, but whether it helps developers and whether they allow them to develop.
Earlier, Dishonored Creator and Baldur’s Gate 3 stated that Game Pass was destroying the industry. According to Raphael Colantonio and Michael Dowus, this model is incredibly damaging to the sale of all games.
