This space traveller, which was formed 160,000 years ago, gave the inhabitants of the Southern Hemisphere an unforgettable sight.

Comet G3 Atlas, discovered only last April, impressed astronomers and star-lovers with its brightness and unusual tail. It could be observed with the naked eye, which made this event accessible to the general public.

However, you had to hurry to see the comet. After passing perihelion (closest point to the Sun) on January 13, the comet began to move away from the Earth and gradually dim. According to scientists, its next appearance in our skies will take place only after 800,000 years.
