The court in Uzbekistan was sentenced to three years and one month imprisonment of a man who participated in the war against Ukraine on the side of Russia. About it reports the Repost with reference to the decision of the Izbaskan district court.

He was found guilty of mercenary, recruitment for military service and illegal crossing the border.

According to the investigation, the man went to work in the Russian city of Saratov in 2019. In June 2024, he signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Russia and passed military training, and in July-August participated in hostilities in the Luhansk region and the city of Volchansk, where he was injured. After treatment in the hospital, he illegally crossed the border and returned to Uzbekistan.

The accused pleaded guilty. He reported that he received the Russian passport without giving up the citizenship of Uzbekistan.

The Ukrainian project “I want to live” previously published the names of 1110 citizens of Uzbekistan, who signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Russia to participate in the war against Ukraine. The project is aware of the death of at least 109 Uzbekistan citizens at the front. The youngest of the dead was not 21, the oldest – 62 years. One of the Uzbek mercenaries died on the eighth day after the contract was signed.
