IT’S FA Cup weekend – but Leyton Orient vs Derby County has become the latest game to be POSTPONED as the big freeze continues.

It is the third FA Cup game to fall, with Preston’s meeting with Charlton and Mansfield vs Wigan already called off due to a frozen pitch.

Multiple matches in the EFL and non-League have also fallen victim to the freezing temperatures as many clubs prepare for a weekend with no football on show.

  • Leyton Orient vs Derby postponedAfter their pitch inspection announcement, Leyton Orient have confirmed that their FA Cup clash with Derby has been postponed.

    The match will now be played on Tuesday 14th January (KO 7.45pm)

  • Leyton Orient pitch inspectionLeyton Orient’s FA Cup tie with Derby is in doubt with a pitch inspection to to take place at Gaughan Group Stadium at lunchtime.

    The club have said they will give an update when they can.

    For now, the game is still scheduled for a 6pm KO.

  • Non league chaosIt’s not just the EFL that’s being impacted by the freezing temperatures.

  • Rotherham confirm game ONRotherham vs Bolton is the ONLY League One fixture scheduled to go ahead today amid the weather chaos.

    And Rotherham have made it clear they they expect to be playing at 12:30 as planned.

  • Two League One game remainingOnly two fixtures remain scheduled to be played in League One today.

    The 12:30 kick-off between Rotherham and Bolton and the 3pm face-off between Stevenage and Burton are the only games not be postponed due to the extreme weather or FA Cup ties.

    For now, both games appear to be going ahead as planned.

  • Blackpool vs Cambridge OFFAnother game bites the dust!

    Blackpool vs Cambridge in League One has become the latest match to be postponed due to the freezing conditions.

    A statement released by Cambridge read: “This afternoon’s Sky Bet League One game at Blackpool has been postponed due to a frozen pitch…

    “The decision was made by the Match Referee following an 8:30am pitch inspection at Bloomfield Road.

    “Pre-purchased tickets for the game will remain valid for the rearranged fixture, the details of which will be communicated in due course.

    “Once the date has been confirmed, supporters who are unable to make the new date can request a refund by contacting the Ticket Office.”

  • Mansfield issue statementMansfield issued the following statement after their FA Cup match with Wigan was postponed:

    Frost covers have been on the playing surface all week in an attempt to protect the pitch, however, with temperatures reaching as low as -7C in the early hours of this morning and not forecast to rise above freezing within the next 24 hours, an early decision has been made to postpone the game.

  • UK’s coldest nightThe UK recorded its coldest January night in 15 years on Thursday night.

    Temperatures fell even lower early on Friday evening, with -16.1C (3F) recorded at the hamlet of Altnaharra in the northern Scottish Highlands.

    But high pressure is set to build across the country over the weekend.

    That will lead to a significant thaw of snow and ice by Sunday and ushering in a warmer start to the new week.
