In December 2024, the average prices for food and non -alcoholic beverages in Ukraine increased by 15.2% compared to December 2023.

About it reports the State Statistics Service.

Butter – by 32.2%, sunflower oil – by 31.1%, as well as vegetables – by 29.4%. Bread increased by 20.6%, milk by 18.3%, cheese and soft cheese by 17.9%. Also, a significant rise in price was observed in bread products (17%) and soft drinks (15.6%).

Fruit prices increased by 14.1%, eggs by 13.2%, fish and fish products – by 12.4%. Pasta went up by 11.2%. At the same time, the slightest increase in prices was observed in meat and meat products (6.8%), sugar (4.3%) and eggs (1.8%).

The causes of such rapid growth were adverse weather conditions in the summer and fall of 2024. The heat and absence of rains have adversely affected the yield of many vegetables and fruits. This was reflected in terms of maturation of products and its quality characteristics.

According to the NBU, in January 2025, the rates of raw prices for raw products slowed down somewhat due to the warm winter and increasing imports. This helped to expand the supply of eggs, milk, vegetables and fruits.

However, the processed products continue to rise due to the high costs of manufacturers for raw materials, electricity, wages and logistics.

We also recently wrote that in the Ukrainian primary market, housing prices increased by 2024 by 15%, accelerating the growth compared to 2023, when the figure was 12.8%.
