The management of Kharkiv “Metalista 1925” plans to give the star Ukrainian judoka Daria Bilodid the opportunity to debut in professional football at the women’s level, reports journalist Dmytro Venkov.
According to the source, the 23-year-old athlete, who recently became an ambassador for the Premier League club, may get her chance in the second half of the season.
Daria Bilodid is a bronze medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games, a three-time European champion and a two-time world judo champion.
Women’s team “Metalista 1925” plays in the elite division of Ukraine and this season has 15 points in 5 matches played.
The involvement of Bilodid in “Metalista 1925” is not the first example of a Ukrainian club signing a non-football star – previously, in a similar way, “Polyssia” announced cooperation with the world-famous boxer Oleksandr Usyk.
