More than a hundred railway stations of Ukraine have raised the white and black flag of hope-a symbol of unbreakable faith in the return of prisoners and missing persons. The initiative was implemented by Ukrzaliznytsia together with the steel charitable foundation, founded on the initiative of Hero of Ukraine Sergei Volynsky.
“Today we raise the flag of hope to remind: we will not stop until every captive and every missing person will return home. It consists of two colors – black and white. The black strip symbolizes death, captivity and loss, and white – hope and struggle. Together, they form a canvas that embodies indomitability in the struggle for every Ukrainian, ”Volynsky said.
The flag was raised, in particular, at the Southern Railway Station of Kiev. During the ceremony, a bandurist’s musical performance took place and the military performed.
The chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia Alexander Pertsovsky reported that at this point 40 railways are held captive, more than 400 are considered missing.
Ukrzaliznytsia urged Ukrainians to join the action – to raise the flag of hope as a sign of support and voice of those who are still waiting for freedom.
Recall that Ukrzaliznytsia will strengthen the control measures at the stations. Passengers are advised to arrive in advance for landing, 20-30 minutes before departure.
