Fresh off his song of the year win (alongside sister Billie Eilish) at the Grammys, Finneas joined The Macallan on Tuesday night for a special celebration of the single malt Scotch whisky.

The event is hosted by The Macallan in partnership with The Hollywood Reporter — took over The Macallan Villa in Los Angeles to toast its release Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary bottle, as part of the distiller’s partnership with James Bond and the 1971 film’s milestone.

Following The Macallan’s 2022 James Bond 60th Anniversary series, the latest whiskey draws direct inspiration from Diamonds Are Forever‘s narrative, specifically Bond’s (as played in that iteration by Sean Connery) mastery of fine wine. Fittingly, it was also distilled in 2007 — emphasis on 007 — and was held in hybrid casks crafted from European and American oak in a nod to the film, as the American oak casks previously held red wine.

The Diamonds Are Forever bottle was unveiled in glittering fashion at the event, as guests included James Marsden, Jurnee Smollett and Heated Rivalry‘s François Arnaud raised a glass with some exclusive sips of the whiskey. The Macallan property, featuring expansive views of the city, was decked out with a private Sherry tasting room and two key props from the film: Blofeld’s mini submarine Bathosub and a Honda all-terrain vehicle ridden by Connery’s Bond.

After the attendees took part in a toast — led by The Macallan global creative director Jaume Ferràs and master whiskey maker Kirsteen Campbell — they made their way outside for a performance from Finneas, who sang four of his songs alongside the villa’s infinity pool. The artist won an Oscar in 2022 for his and Eilish’s James Bond song “No Time to Die,” but he opted for solo works at the party, singing “For Cryin’ Out Loud!,” “Little Window,” “Let’s Fall in Love for the Night” and “Palomino.”

In between songs, Finneas bantered with the audience, joking, “This is potentially the closest I’ve ever played to the highway. I like it, it’s exciting for me,” as cars passed by on the road beneath the property.

He also dropped a tease of what he’s working on now, saying, “You’ve pulled me out of a brief retirement. I was on tour a lot last year, which was a really fun experience, and now I’m back in the studio making Billie’s next record. I’m having a great time doing that, but it’s a real treat to get to play things like this,” while also expressing appreciation for “the eyeballs and the closed mouths” as people took time away from mingling to watch him perform.

Also making the guest list were Joel McHale, Lamorne Morris, Manny Jacinto, The Pitt‘s Supriya Ganesh and Alexandra Metz, Tell Me Lies stars Branden Cook, Catherine Missal and Katherine Hughes, Running Point‘s Drew Tarver and Scott MacArthur, The White Lotus‘ Nicholas Duvernay and Abbott Elementary‘s William Stanford Davis.
