Finland can once again decide on deportation to Ukraine.
Finland’s immigration service (Migri) suspended such decisions after Russia launched a full-scale war of aggression in February 2022.
Currently, the government’s new policy is based on the fact that Ukraine also has areas where there is no war. Accordingly, people can be returned.

Decisions leading to removal are forced return and deportation.
At the same time, Migri notes the following:
The threshold for making a decision on forced return to Ukraine is currently still very high. Citizens of Ukraine in Finland have the right to temporary protection.
According to Migri, there is a “small number” of Ukrainians in Finland, for whom only an application for asylum is being considered. If the decision on the asylum application is negative, these Ukrainians also have the opportunity to apply for temporary protection.
