In the final stretch of the Formula 1 season, the question of the reliability of power plants can play a decisive role. All teams have already reached their permitted component limit, so replacing any item will result in starting penalties.

Ferrari is considering the possibility of installing a new power plant during the Brazilian Grand Prix, on Charles Leclerc’s car. This decision may be made given that Lewis Hamilton has already served a penalty in Belgium, so such a move would allow the team from Maranello to avoid a double blow on positions at the start.

At Mercedes, according to information from the paddock, a similar scenario is not excluded, given their traditionally high competitiveness in Interlagos. Sanctions on the starting grid are less critical here: the track allows you to effectively play positions, which Hamilton proved in 2021 by breaking from the tail of the peloton to victory.

This strategic risk is aimed at maximizing results in Las Vegas, where engine power can be the key to a high score on the ultra-fast urban track.
