Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov held a meeting with US representative Julie Davis, during which the parties discussed key areas of further military and security cooperation between Ukraine and the United States.
According to the minister, Ukraine is grateful to the USA for comprehensive military and diplomatic support. Separately, he emphasized the importance of the PURL initiative, which provides the Defense Forces with critically needed weapons.
Fedorov informed about joint work with partners on the continuation of PURL, as well as the American JUMPSTART mechanism, which guarantees the long-term supply of US-made weapons. He emphasized that in order to protect the Ukrainian sky, it is extremely important to get a clear forecast of the supply of anti-aircraft missiles for the current year as soon as possible and to build stable supplies for the future.
A separate topic of the meeting was the joint analysis of the use of American weapons systems, in particular Patriot and HIMARS. According to the minister, the analysis of combat experience makes it possible to improve these systems and increase their effectiveness on the battlefield.
The parties also discussed Ukraine’s need for laser-guided artillery shells, which significantly increase the accuracy of damage, as well as the implementation of the large-scale Drone Deal. The Ukrainian side is working to ensure that American partners can directly test Ukrainian drones with the minimization of bureaucratic procedures.
At the end of the conversation, Mykhailo Fedorov thanked Julie Davis for the constructive dialogue and emphasized the importance of systemic support of Ukraine from the US.
