Vyacheslav Zinchenko, an extra in the case of the murder of Iryna Farion, has had his crime classified changed. The case materials have been referred to the court.

Currently, he is suspected of the intentional killing of a person in connection with the fulfillment of a public duty by him for reasons of national intolerance, and of illegal handling of weapons.
As the law enforcement officers established, in 2022, the suspect in the murder of the well-known public figure Iryna Farion, an 18-year-old resident of the city of Dnipro, became a member of a group that promotes the cult of violence and cruelty, as well as racial, national and religious intolerance and discrimination, in one of the messengers. In 2024, he joined another group associated with a Russian neo-Nazi organization.
During his stay in these groups, the suspect developed a personal dislike for Iryna Farion due to her active stance on the protection of the Ukrainian language and culture. According to the attacker, she split the national unity with her actions – because of this, he had the intention to kill the public figure.
The figure carefully prepared for the commission of the crime, collected confidential information about the place of residence and work of the victim, followed, and also developed a detailed plan to kill her and purchased firearms.
According to the police, an intruder ambushed Iryna Farion on July 19 at around 7:20 p.m. in the yard of her house on Masaryka Street in Lviv. He approached the victim and shot her once in the head before running away. In a few hours, the public figure died in the hospital as a result of the gunshot wound.
On July 25, the law enforcement officers established the whereabouts of the fugitive and detained him in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in the city of Dnipro.
Investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes Committed Against the Life and Health of a Person of the Investigative Department of the Lviv Oblast Police, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, changed the classification of the crime and on December 25 sent the indictment to the court under the following articles:
- h 1 Art. 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives)
- p. 8, 14 h. 2 Art. 115 (Deliberate killing of a person in connection with his performance of a public duty for reasons of national intolerance) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
He faces life imprisonment.
It will be recalled that on the evening of July 19, activist and linguist Iryna Farion was fatally wounded in Lviv.
