“False and an element of hostile IPSO” – “Ukrenergo” about the notification regarding the export of electricity from Ukraine

The company “Ukrenergo” denies reports spread on social networks that Ukraine allegedly exports electricity to neighboring countries against the background of long-term blackouts for most consumers. “This is a lie and an element of the hostile IPSO. Most of these posts, with almost identical theses and “proofs”, have nothing to do with logic and reality. The purpose of such activity in social networks is to sow mistrust and anger in society, speculating on a sensitive topic,” the company’s press service said in a statement. “Ukrenergo” reminds that since October of last year, Russia resumed regular mass attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities, as a result of which there was a significant power deficit in the energy system. The company emphasizes that under such conditions, the export of electricity from Ukraine is not carried out at all, and all Ukrainian power plants are currently working exclusively to meet the needs of domestic consumption. Ukrenergo adds that data from the ENTSO-E (European Network of Electricity Transmission System Operators) section on “physical flows of electricity, which are often mistakenly or purposefully presented as “evidence” in social networks, do not indicate the existence of electricity exports from Ukraine.” Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has been striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Since the beginning of the fall of 2025, Russian forces have intensified their attacks on the Ukrainian energy industry. The Security Service of Ukraine qualifies Russia’s strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure as crimes against humanity. The SBU previously noted that since the beginning of this year’s heating season, it has documented at least 256 air attacks by the Russian Federation on energy facilities and heat supply systems of Ukraine. After the last massive attacks by the Russian Federation, the energy system of Ukraine is under a state of emergency, the most difficult situation is in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. The mayor of the city, Vitaliy Klitschko, reported that as of January 30, 378 high-rise buildings were still without heat – out of almost six thousand, in which heating disappeared as a result of the Russian attack on the capital’s critical infrastructure on January 24. According to the city authorities, most of these houses were twice restored or tried to restore heating after the previous mass shelling on January 9 and 20.”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org

“The Ukrainian energy system is a part of the pan-European one. When energy systems are interconnected (such as Ukrainian, Moldovan, Romanian, Hungarian, Slovak and Polish), there are technical flows between them. This is a natural phenomenon determined by the laws of physics. As a rule, these flows are insignificant. But the final balance is always close to zero: as much goes abroad, as much is later returned,” the company adds.
