The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, exposed a criminal group in Vinnytsia, which was recruiting conscripts into the ranks of a fake “volunteer battalion” for money.

According to the results of the special operation, the law enforcement officers detained five members of the criminal group.
The investigation established that the defendants included conscripts in a public association that operated under the guise of “benevolence”, but in reality had no relation to the Defense Forces of Ukraine and was used as a cover for illegal activities. Centers of pseudo-formation also operated in Zakarpattia, Lviv, Chernivtsi, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
The cost of a “membership ticket” was from 2 to 5 thousand dollars. After joining the ranks of the pseudo-battalion, its organizers promised conscripts to physically “fight” them off from representatives of the TCC and law enforcement officers. For this purpose, a so-called “power wing” was created in the structure of the formation, which went out on calls during document checks.
According to the SBU, the attackers managed to enroll more than 30 conscripts who were hiding from mobilization into the fake battalion.
The law enforcement officers documented the criminal activity and arrested the organizers. During the searches, price lists for joining the public association, “certificates” of the pseudo-battalion, as well as draft records regarding the payment of “membership fees” were seized.
The detainees were charged with obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, as well as with threats or violence against a law enforcement officer committed by an organized group.
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved. The extras face up to 14 years in prison.
Prior to this, the State Bureau of Investigation exposed a corruption mechanism in one of the regional territorial recruitment centers of the Mykolayiv region, where the official personally “wrote off” conscripts with the help of unauthorized intervention in the electronic system.
