The long-awaited victory was won by the Italian Tommaso Giacomel, for whom this is only the second triumph at the World Cup level. The Italian managed to cover all the targets and was ahead of the nearest competitor by 4 seconds.
Up-and-coming biathlete Eric Perrault also showed perfect shooting, but he finished second. The top three was closed by the German Philipp Horn, who set a personal record: the first personal podium at the World Cup.
Again, the leader of the general standings, Johan-Olav Bothn, could be on the first three steps, but he lacked speed – he lost to Philipp by 3.1.
Only one Ukrainian made it to the scoring zone, and he was Vitaly Mandzin. The athlete with two penalty rounds showed the 30th result.
