Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump may not actually know how to stop the war, “even if he thinks he does.”
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stated this in an interview with the American weekly The New Yorker.
“It often happens with this war that the deeper you look into it, the less you understand,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized.
Zelensky also assured that he had seen many leaders who were convinced that they knew how to end this war tomorrow, “but the deeper they delved into the situation, the more clearly they realized that everything is not so simple.”

Trump’s position on Russia’s war against Ukraine
Earlier it was reported that the ex-president of the USA repeatedly promised to quickly stop the war in Ukraine after winning the presidential elections. According to him, he knows both the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi very well, so he will be able to “solve this problem very quickly.”
He also claimed that he could end the war “in 24 hours”. Trump has said that he would “allow” Russia to take over part of Ukraine and that the U.S. is transferring too many weapons to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, in May 2024, The Washington Post reported that Trump said at a campaign event that he would bomb Moscow if it launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine while he was in the Oval Office.
In response to Trump’s pre-election promises, the President of Ukraine emphasized that the Russian dictator cannot be stopped by agreements. He said that he would like to see Trump in Ukraine so that he could see the consequences of the war with his own eyes.
Donald Trump took offense at Putin and named the reason
One of Trump’s national security advisers, retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, said he was considering a new one “peace plan”, which should incline Russia and Ukraine to negotiations.
On September 12, the candidate for the vice president of the USA from the republicans, J. D. Vance, said that Trump’s plan to end the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine may involve the creation of “demilitarized zone” in the territories occupied by the Russian Federation — and official Kyiv will have to refuse to join NATO.
Also in September, Donald Trump said that if he is elected president of the United States, Donald Trump will prioritize settling the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump also assured that he knows Putin “very well” and President Zelensky “very well”.
