Every fourth Ukrainian teenager, 13-16 years old, examines the variant of emigration. This is evidenced by the results of the study “Future index: professional expectations and development of adolescents in Ukraine”, conducted in March 2025.
The data is published on the website of the Foundation of Elena Zelenskaya.
Among the main reasons that encourage teenagers to think about life abroad, they call the wider opportunities, the desire to see the world, the higher quality of education and safety.
The likelihood of emigration moods increases if the child lives in the city, has a clear vision of the future profession, has a high level of English and is raised in a family with a higher education. At the same time, pessimism about the future of the country also affects the willingness to leave Ukraine.
Nevertheless, most parents do not share the desire of children and want their descendants to build their lives in Ukraine.
The survey was attended by 10 178 people – 5089 teenagers and their parents or guardians. The research was conducted online.
Earlier, we wrote that most refugees left Ukraine after the war in 2022. However, the outflow continues now.
