The new Eurovision season will start very soon for Ukraine. Very quickly, a representative from the country will become famous, who will perform at the 70th anniversary singing competition. UNN offers to recall some numbers from a musical performance from Ukraine and how much they cost.
In 2018, Ukraine was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon by singer Melovin, who was not as popular at the time as he is now, the winner of the sixth season of the “X-Factor” show. The artist went to the capital of Portugal with the song “Under the ladder”. It should be noted that in addition to a rather obsessive and hit composition, the star also had an impressive number. Namely, he used a burning piano and flames in his performance. In addition, at the beginning of the number, the artist was lying in the musical instrument, and later, with the development of the composition, he got up from it. At that time, the artist reminded many of a vampire. Note that according to the then reports of the public broadcaster, which promotes the participation of artists in Eurovision, the trip and performance of Melovin (who eventually took 17th place at the contest) cost 2.3 million UAH.
It should be added that the performer performed in the grand final of the event first, and the audience placed him in the 7th position. As for the jury members, they gave the last place to the Ukrainian.
Jamala in 2016, Ukraine was represented by a singer of Crimean Tatar origin Jamala. The artist performed at a competition in Sweden and won an incredible victory. In addition to the unique timbre and the charming song-mantra “1944”, Jamala impressed both the jury members and the TV audience with a spectacular number. In the center of the performance was a kind of hologram of a tree, which at the moment of the greatest climax grew, symbolizing the infinity of the family and the power of life. This tree and the graphics with which viewers could enjoy it through their TV screens cost $90,000. It should be added that this sum includes not only the cost of the production, but also the artist’s full trip to Eurovision.
“Ziferblat” Currently, in 2026, this trio are the last Eurovision contestants from Ukraine. That year they represented the country with the song “Bird of prayer”. The message that the Ukrainians wanted to convey to Europe was immediately clear from the speech they gave. Namely, the team’s track is translated as “praying bird”. The mood of the composition is connected with the fact that dark clouds always disperse and eventually a warm spring comes, and the lyrical hero of the composition is just looking for the light that seems almost impossible to find. The “Ziferblat” number was accompanied by bright lighting, special effects related to light and stylish costumes. It should be added that the boys themselves said in one of the interviews that about 120,000 dollars (more than 4 million hryvnias) were spent on the trip. However, the collective added that the public broadcaster did not fully finance them. It was just support and a lot of things were financed by the artists themselves. As a result, the group took 9th place at Eurovision 2025, which took place in Basel.
We will remind Earlier UNN wrote about when the final of the National Selection for Eurovision 2026 from Ukraine will take place. TV viewers will be able to vote for their chosen one in the Diya application.
