European Union leaders are going to discuss European defense during an informal meeting in Brussels.

As noted on the EU website, Europe should take more responsibility for its own defense, so the discussion will be focused on topics – the development of defense capabilities, financing, including the mobilization of private financing, strengthening and deepening partnerships.

The European Union hopes that this discussion will help to prepare the next steps to make Europe a more stable and reliable player in the field of security and defense, thus becoming a stronger transatlantic partner, including in the context of NATO.
