Details: The reason for the urgent meeting was the threat of the American president start a trade war against countries that have expressed support for Denmark’s territorial integrity and sent their military contingent to Greenland.
EU members – Denmark, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland – as well as countries outside the bloc – Norway and Great Britain – fall under the influence of American sanctions.
According to the schedule announced by Trump, from February 1, a 10% tariff will apply to products, goods and raw materials from the above-mentioned countries. In Washington, it is emphasized that the pressure will continue until the United States concludes an agreement on the purchase of Greenland and does not pay the price for the transfer of the island to the jurisdiction of the United States.
