Direct speech: “Is this what a “truce” looks like? Explosions. Civilians killed. Energy facilities destroyed, transport infrastructure…
And today’s attack (apparently, the ambassador meant Zaporozhye – ed.) is another proof that there is no “truce”. Russia does not respect the agreement. None of their promises were kept.”
Details: She also emphasized that Ukraine is currently in a period of severe frosts, and in Kyiv, many high-rise buildings are still waiting for the return of heating after previous energy strikes; most Ukrainians live with power outages lasting many hours.
“The democratic world should not look away,” the ambassador stressed.
What preceded: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga called for increased pressure on the Russian Federation after an attack on a maternity hospital in Zaporizhzhia on February 1, as a result of which six people were injured.
On January 29, US President Donald Trump said that he had received Putin’s consent not to hit Kyiv “and other cities” for a week – without specifying when the countdown was to begin.
The Kremlin said that it is supposed to be a deadline of February 1.
For his part, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stated that there are no direct agreements between Kyiv and Moscow regarding the cessation of Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy, but talks about this continue, in particular in Abu Dhabi; he also emphasized that Ukraine will act as a mirror to the actions of the Russian Federation.
