Eric Adams Fires Back at Andy Cohen’s “Sloppy Drunken Rant” on New Year’s Eve: “He Should Seek Help”

Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams isn’t holding back in his response to Andy Cohen’s criticism during Wednesday night’s CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live special with Anderson Cooper.

“Another sloppy drunken rant. If anyone actually cares about him, they’ll tell him to get help,” Adams wrote on X Thursday evening. “New Yorkers aren’t laughing with him. They are concerned about him. Public intoxication is a disease. He should seek help. He was safe in Times Square because we did our job. Again. Seek help. AAA: Andy’s Alcohol Anonymous.”

The post comes after Cohen and Cooper were joined by The Office actor BJ Novak for their annual booze-fueled New Year’s Eve show, and Cohen shared his thoughts on Adams’ term as it was coming to a close. “I just want to say, you got your pardons. Now go off into the sunset,” he said. “We’ll fiddle with what we have — with what you left us with. Go dance away. We’ll see you at all the parties. You partied your way through four years; we’ll see you at all the clubs.”

In September 2024, Adams was indicted and charged with taking bribes and illegal campaign funds from foreign sources. However, the charges were later dismissed.

The Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen host continued, “I will say this. I think he may have dented the rat population. I think he got rid of some of the rats. But isn’t that a metaphor of sorts? Let’s call it as it is. Honestly. Guess what. It is 2026, and there are less rats.”

Novak clarified, “Fewer rats.”

Adams concluded his term as NYC Mayor on New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Day, Zohran Mamdani was formally sworn in as the new Mayor.
