Ukrainian energy workers have restored power supply to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant temporarily occupied by Russian troops.
The Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk announced the completion of the works.
According to her, the station managed to get out of the mode of complete blackout – the tenth since the beginning of the war – in which it was in the last weeks.
Specialists completed the repair of the 750 kV “Dniprovska” high-voltage line and continue work on the 330 kV “Ferosplavna” line. The restoration of power allowed to ensure the stable operation of the safety and cooling systems of the nuclear reactors.
During the month, the ZNPP was supported only by emergency diesel generators, which posed a serious threat to the radiation background in Ukraine and beyond.
Grynchuk emphasized that power outages are caused by the actions of the occupying forces, who systematically shell and damage the energy infrastructure near the station.
Due to these shellings, the Zaporizhzhia NPP repeatedly found itself in a critical state, approaching the limit of nuclear safety.
The minister emphasized that any power outage at a nuclear facility is a potential threat that could have catastrophic consequences for Europe.
We will remind you that Russia has spoken about a ceasefire for the repair of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
The occupiers are also destroying the infrastructure of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
