Employees of the energy and utility sectors, who daily restore light, heat and water after Russian shelling, will receive additional payments from the state. It is about an allowance of 20,000 hryvnias to the salary for each month of work in the conditions of an emergency situation in the energy sector. This was announced by the Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko.
Ukrainian energy workers, heat workers, gas workers, utility workers and railway workers, who are directly involved in emergency and restoration work, will receive an additional 20,000 hryvnias from the state in addition to their wages. According to Svyridenko, we are talking about employees of energy companies regardless of the form of ownership, housing and communal enterprises and “Ukrzaliznytsia”. It is these people who are part of the repair crews who are the first to go to the objects destroyed by shelling, often work in difficult and dangerous conditions and restore electricity, gas, heat and water supply.
“An additional UAH 20,000 will be paid to employees who are directly involved in emergency recovery work. These are the specialists who go to the damaged objects every day and return basic services to people after shelling,” said Svyridenko.
Allowances will be calculated for three months – January, February and March of this year. According to the Prime Minister, workers will receive the first payments for January already in February. The government emphasizes that this is a separate supplement that does not replace the basic salary.
So that people do not waste time and energy on bureaucratic procedures, the mechanism of payments has been simplified as much as possible. Enterprises themselves will form personal lists of employees who are entitled to the allowance and will submit them for accrual of funds. “We have simplified the mechanism of receiving payments so that people do not waste time and energy on paperwork. Enterprises will submit personal lists of repairmen, and everyone who is entitled to payment will receive a message via Diya or SMS,” explained the Prime Minister.
The government emphasizes that this decision is a way to support the people who actually maintain the country’s energy system in the most difficult period. It depends on their work whether there will be light, heat and water in the homes of Ukrainians during massive attacks on infrastructure. The surcharge program is part of a wider package of solutions aimed at supporting critical areas in the conditions of war and constant strikes on energy facilities.
It will be recalled that Zelensky announced allowances for those who repair the power system.
