On September 25, Energoatom concluded an agreement worth UAH 509 million for the design and construction of a protective structure at the Rivne nuclear power plant. This happened after Zelensky’s speech at the UN.

“That is, it was necessary for Zelensky to declare at the UN that the energy equipment near Ukrainian nuclear power plants is unprotected and is about to become a target for Russian missiles, so that nuclear scientists start designing the “second level” protection,” the publication writes.
These are reinforced concrete U-shaped structures that protect large transformers from Shaheds and shrapnel injuries in the event of an indirect missile hit.
The effectiveness of such structures has already been proven at Ukrenergo substations, which together with State Rehabilitation began to be closed last year, and the work is still ongoing – that’s how slow the story is. But even completely unfinished structures are already protected from impacts.
As the publication notes, the contract for the RANP in the amount of UAH 509 million is completely hidden, there is no data on the size of the construction.
