An indictment was sent to the court against three employees of one of the branches of the state enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” in the Zhytomyr Region. They are suspected of trying to seize state property through abuse of official position.
This was reported by the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office of the Prosecutor General’s Office, which conducted the procedural management of the proceedings.
According to the materials of the investigation, forestry engineers were part of a special commission that was engaged in allocating plots for sanitary and planned felling of the main use.
Using their official position, they deliberately falsified the measurements of the trees — in the documents, the thickness and height of the trunks were less than what was actually there.
Such a scheme made it possible to reduce the official volume of wood that the company reported, and further created conditions for illegal enrichment.
As a result, the employees underestimated the real indicators of commercial oak wood in the forest area of 2.4 hectares. According to experts’ calculations, the volume of valuable wood was reduced by 183 cubic meters, which is more than 4.5 million hryvnias.
It will be recalled that the head of the State Enterprise “Lysy Ukrainy” had his bail reduced 10 times, and he was released from custody.
Also, in the Kyiv region, an engineer of “Forests of Ukraine” was caught illegally cutting down trees.
